Project Description
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Rotary International, the clubs across Nepal, including Damak, planted more than 50,000 tree saplings. Rotary International is an organization that was founded on February 23, 1905, in Chicago, USA.
Today (Saturday), the Rotary Club of Damak planted 240 saplings at the embankment of the Ratuwa River in Damak–7, informed the club's president Keshav Agrawal.
President Agrawal stated that the tree plantation was carried out with the aim of beautifying the Ratuwa embankment and making it clean and green. Rotary member Devendra Baral informed that the 240 saplings planted today included mango, guava, jackfruit, neem, siris, and others.
According to Sandeep Chapagain (Dipu), former president of Rotary Club of Damak, the campaign was initiated under the leadership of Binod Koirala, Governor of Rotary International District 3292, with the goal of planting 50,000 trees across the country.
The tree plantation program was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Damak Rotaract Club president Diwakar Panchkoti and with the chief guest Deputy Mayor of Damak Municipality, Regina Bhattarai.
The event saw notable attendance from Ward Chairperson of Damak–7 Bhim Prasad Paudel, President of Damak Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gopal Gurgai, Vice President of Rotary Club of Damak Sagar Shrestha, Rotarian Rama Limbu, former presidents Bikram Shah, Bharat Chaulagai, President of Jeevan Chakra Society Nepal Ganesh Prasad Gautam, Vice President Benu Prasai, Secretary Ganesh Pradhan, Dr. Lekhnath Neupane, Vice President of Damak Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ruval Adhikari, former presidents of Damak Rotary, officials of Rotary and Rotaract Clubs, representatives of social organizations, school students, and staff of Hotel NepaliRica.
